FIND YOUR ELEMENT

There are five major martial elements that can be found in almost everything we do in the martial arts.  These elements are wind, earth, water, fire, and void.  Some styles or cultures replace earth with wood and void with metal, but they are all fundamentally the same. Most people can be classified as having characteristics that encompass one or more of the martial elements. 

 

This can also be said for their fighting style. Most beginners will negatively possess either the wind, earth, or fire element but with practice can become very proficient within these elements.  A fighter possessing the void element is the best fighter of all and this is why this element takes a lifetime to achieve.  Below will be a brief description of each element and the type of fighter that fits each of these molds.

 

 Let me say that anyone can increase or decrease their level of each of these elements because too much or too little of any one element is not good and will result in a predictive type of fighter.  Every student should try to find the element that they possess and try to become the best fighter they can within this element while balancing their skills in the other elements strategically.
